With great sadness, we announce the passing of Jan Spizer Seltzer. Jan was born on September 16th, 1948, to Dr. David and Jean Spizer. A lifelong resident of New Orleans, Jan graduated from Fortier High School, where she was a sweetheart of AZA, and attended Endicott College, where she studied Political Science.
Jan was a devoted mother and sister. She took great pride in raising her two daughters. She loved art, cooking, and reading, and had a warm, humorous spirit. She was kind, creative, and always happy to share her thoughts with all. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with family.
Jan was a member of the Temple Sinai congregation. She was preceded in death by her parents and her loving husband, Donald Carl Leavitt. She is survived by her two siblings, Dale Spizer Aronson and David Bruce Spizer; her two children, Amy Seltzer Malish [Jedd] and Corinne Seltzer Skott [Mike of Atlanta]; and her three grandchildren, Benjamin Malish, David Malish, and Nathan Skott.
Jan and her family want to thank Paula Hampton and Jatil Garrick for the care and friendship she provided Jan.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 17th at 10:00 a.m. in the banquet room at The Marseille Condominiums. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the charity of your choice in Jan’s memory.
