Jane Mae Daly Cabes Ortis

Jane Mae Daly Cabes Ortis (Sweetie) passed away on December 20, 2017 at the age of 95. Beloved wife of the late Robert M. Ortis, former wife of the late Leon J. Cabes, Sr., mother of Leon J. Cabes, Jr. (wife, Cheryl) and Judith Cabes Stiebel (husband, David). Grandmother of Scott Cabes, Stephanie Cabes Broders, Allyson Cabes, Jason Stiebel, Adam Stiebel, and Michael Stiebel. Great grandmother of Brandon, Emily Broders, Alyssa, Scottie, Catie, Monica Cabes, Joshua, Matthew, Sylvia, Lyla and Owsley Stiebel. Born on October 11, 1922 to the late Joseph J. Daly and Ronetta Beck Daly of New Orleans, LA. Jenny is the sister of the late Esther Daly Russell. She lived in New Orleans and attended Sacred Heart High School. She was employed by Kaiser Aluminum and Gregory-Salisbury Power Products, Inc as a secretary until her retirement to Waveland, MS. where she was active in the local AARP Chapter, RSVP and Civic Association. For the last 7 years she enjoyed living at the Windsor Senior Living Community in Mandeville, LA and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral mass at 11:00 AM, Thursday December 28, 2017 at Lake Lawn Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Boulevard, New Orleans, LA. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM. Interment will follow at Saint Joseph Cemetery, New Orleans.
