Jane Holzenthal Sherlock

Jane was born on November 9, 1948, in Metairie, LA. She was a part of the first graduating class of St. Mary Magdalen and the first graduating class of Archbishop Chapelle High School in 1966. Jane received her nursing license in 1970 and went on to work at East Jefferson Hospital for a number of years before residing at Lakeside Hospital for over 30 years. She went on to teach at Eastern Medical College for 8 years.

Jane was predeceased in death by her parents, Charles and Elaine Holzenthal, and her sister, Janet Gremillion.

She is survived by her four children, Lance Sherlock, Kim Sherlock-Mumphrey (Jared), Randy Sherlock (Brianne) and Kelly Sherlock-Elwell (Kevin) and her seven grandchildren Aiden, Riley, Parker, Arthur, Sully, Taylor and Hayden as well as her many nieces and nephews.

Of the many friends and family that she held dear to her heart, no one compared to her beloved “Cooties”!

The family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude to the staff at The Carpenter House at St. Joseph’s hospice.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd in New Orleans, on Friday, July 31, 2026. Visitation will begin at 12 PM with a Memorial Mass following at 2 PM. Jane will be laid to rest in Lake Lawn Park immediately after the chapel service has concluded.
