Jay Michael, beloved son, brother and uncle, 54, passed away on Thursday, June 16, 2016. Jay was born in New Orleans, LA on August 28, 1961 to Mary Ann Champagne and the late Louis J. Champagne, Jr. He graduated from Riverdale High School in 1983. Jay was a groundskeeper for 30 plus years at Cleary Playground. Jay loved the Topcats, the Cubs, and helping & having fun with his family & friends. Jay is survived by his mother, Ann Champagne, brothers, Louis III (Brenda), Paul, and sister Dianne Champagne, also nieces, Melissa Sbisa (Edwin), Brooke Champagne and nephew Paul Jr. (Kelli), great nieces, nephew and family friend, Dorinda Beaumont. He was preceded in death by his father, Louis Jr., nephew, James Powell Jr., and sister-in-law Gale Champagne. Lake Lawn Funeral Home, Metairie, LA in charge of arrangements. Visitation is on Saturday, June 25, from 9 a.m. - noon, mass at noon and burial to follow.
