Jean Eddy Faia

Jean Eddy Faia, lovingly known as “Jeane” by family and friends lived an extraordinary life defined by dedication, perseverance, kindness, and an unwavering commitment to lifelong learning and service.

Jean was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Kenneth W. Faia, and her parents, Ella F. Eddy and Charles P. Eddy.

She leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish her memory: her children, Linda Fleming, Jan Faia (Rob Starkey), and Scott Faia, along with many extended family members, dear friends, and countless lives she touched throughout her remarkable journey.

Jeane devoted more than three decades to education as a teacher, where she found great joy in helping young minds grow. She also taught English to bilingual Spanish-speaking students, reflecting her passion for helping others succeed. Following her career in education, Jeane entered the real estate profession, where she quickly became a top-performing agent. During her 25-year career, she earned membership in the Million Dollar Club multiple times and continued working until the remarkable age of 97, completing her final real estate closing just before retirement.

To know Jeane was to know determination. She believed that staying active was the key to a fulfilling life and often reminded others, “You have to keep moving your body because when you stop, your body stops.” True to those words, she faithfully went to the gym five days a week and embraced every day with enthusiasm and purpose. Even in her later years, Jean remained fiercely independent. Although her children often encouraged her to stop driving, she would simply smile and say, "You do you, and I'll do me." It was a phrase that perfectly captured her determination, confidence, and unwavering zest for living life on her own terms.

Jeane was also an accomplished Bridge player, earning the prestigious title of Ruby Life Master. She played competitively nearly every day, actively working toward achieving the elite Diamond Life Master designation.

Above all, Jeane was a devoted mother, mentor, partner, and role model. She was known for her intelligence, independence, strength, and generosity. Her wisdom, encouragement, and unwavering love provided guidance to her family and inspired everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Jeane’s legacy is one of resilience, hard work, compassion, and living life to its fullest. She demonstrated that age should never limit one’s dreams or determination, and she remained an inspiration through every stage of her life.

Though she will be deeply missed, Jeane’s memory will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, former students, colleagues, and all whose lives she enriched. Her example of perseverance, kindness, and love will continue to inspire generations to come.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd in New Orleans, on Tuesday, August 11, 2026. Visitation will begin at 11 AM with a memorial service following at 12 PM. Jeane will be laid to rest in her family's plot at Metairie Cemetery immediately after the chapel service has concluded.
