Jeanne Link Gaspard, age 81, passed peacefully with her family by her side at Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans, LA on July 29, 2021. She is preceded in death by her parents Everett Orman Link, Sr. and Giovannina Marie Louise Salvaggio Link, her sisters, Cecelia Link English, Catherine Link Pennison and grandson, Griffin Eliot Gaspard.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Robert Jude Gaspard, Sr.; daughter, Michelle Gaspard Johnson (Bruce) of Prattville, AL; her son, Robert J. Gaspard, Jr. (Melissa); 5 grandchildren, Blake Ashton Johnson, Gabrielle Elizabeth Gaspard, Grayson Eli Gaspard, Robert Dean Johnson, Gage Ethan Gaspard; sister Jennie Link Steward; brother Everett Orman Link, Jr. and many beloved nieces and nephews that she loved with her whole heart.
Jeanne was a 1957 graduate of Warren Easton High School in New Orleans, LA and married her high school sweetheart, Robbie. She was a member of the Aunt Jane Letter Club and was selected Miss Air Force Reserve in 1957. She worked as a bookkeeper for Spencer Business College and later became an office manager for the Law Offices of Garon, Brenner and McNeely where she retired after 30 years.
She and Robbie moved to Carriere, MS to spend their retirement near Anchor Lake for the past 23 years. She had a deep passion for interior design and was quick to help her friends and family decorate their homes. Jeanne spent many of her days cooking southern foods, sewing, challenging herself with a good crossword puzzle, beating others in board games, and hosting her neighbors for their monthly canasta gatherings. She was an avid reader, collector of antiques, a great listener, and loved watching crime mystery shows. She always had a seat open at her table and would serve the sweetest of teas or lemonades to her guests. However, nothing brought greater joy to her heart than spending time with her grandchildren.
The family would like to give special thanks to Rebecca Welch, Kelli Johnson, and all her caregivers at Timeless Grace in Carriere, MS, where they have resided for the last 5 months, for their unconditional love and gentle care. The family is extremely grateful to the medical staff at Ochsner Medical Center’s Neurological Unit for provided comfort and guidance so that she could be surrounded by the loves of her life during her final days.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation beginning at 12:00 PM until 2:00PM on Friday, August 6, 2021 held at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. New Orleans, LA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 2:00PM. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to a charitable foundation that was near and dear to her heart, The Griffin E. Gaspard Foundation at 535 E. Alice Avenue, Phoenix, AZ 85020.
