Jeremy Edward Pastorek passed away due to complications of bacterial endocarditis in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit of the Memorial Hermann Texas Medical Center in Houston, Texas, on December 20, 2020, shortly after his 40th birthday. His passing was peaceful, with his parents at his bedside holding his hands.
Jeremy was the treasured and beloved son of Dr. Joseph G. Pastorek II and Patricia Cooke Pastorek. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John Joseph Pastorek, William Edward Cooke and Rita “Sue” Watts Cooke, his aunt Carole Suzanne Cooke, his infant brother Jeffrey William Pastorek and his eldest brother Joseph G. Pastorek, III.
Jeremy was born in Metairie, Louisiana, and most recently lived in Slidell, Louisiana. He graduated from St. Catherine of Siena grammar school and Archbishop Rummel High School, where he was a member of the Archbishop Rummel Raider Marching Band, the Jazz Band and served as Assistant Drum Major. Jeremy also graduated from the University of New Orleans and completed two years at Mississippi College School of Law in Jackson, Mississippi, where he was secretary of the Moot Court. For the past 10 years, after suffering a severe stroke following emergency heart surgery, he lived with his parents in Slidell, Louisiana.
Survivors besides his parents include Jeremy’s loving grandmother Rose Marie Bossier Pastorek, doting aunts Alba Marie “Rietzi” Pastorek and Pamela Cooke Wright and uncle John Karel Pastorek (Jackie O’Beirne Pastorek). He was brother to Jordan Michael Pastorek, MD (Laura Cooper Pastorek), Aimée Pastorek Goodier, MD (Michael Albert Goodier, MD), and Ashley Pastorek Felton, JD (Willy James Felton, MPH). Also survived by cousin Kathryn Carole Wright and nephews and nieces, including Jack, Lindsay and Laci Pastorek of Frisco, Texas, Anna, Michael and Lexi Goodier of Baton Rouge, and Tiger, Eli and Jacob Felton of Richmond, Texas.
Jeremy also leaves behind his long-time and beloved friends—the McConnell family, the Varnado family, Blake Breedlove and family, Elaine Culpepper and his very special “podnah” James Thornton. As well, he will be missed by his furry companion Hunny.
Jeremy will be lovingly remembered by all who knew him for his sweet spirit, wonderful and sometimes irreverent sense of humor, long eyelashes and beautiful eyes, peculiar fascination with five syllable words, facility with humorous movie quotations and appreciation of his father’s cooking. Jeremy loved the LSU Tigers and New Orleans Saints, visits from his nieces and nephews, and he really just loved arriving back home from traveling anywhere. Above all, he loved Jesus as his Lord and Savior and always appreciated a good sermon or homily.
The family would like to give special and heartfelt thanks to the dedicated doctors and nurses at the West Jefferson Medical Center in Marrero, Louisiana, and the Memorial Hermann Texas Medical Center in Houston, Texas, who tried their best to bring Jeremy through a desperate situation.
