Jerry Wayne Adkins

Jerry Wayne Adkins passed away on June 1, 2026, surrounded by his loving family at the age of 71. He was born on February 20, 1955, in Harlan, KY, and was formerly a resident of Florence, KY before settling in Metairie, LA with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Mickey Adkins, and his son, Nicholas R. Adkins.

He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Laurie DeBell Adkins; son, Thomas Adkins (Sarah); and 3 grandchildren, Olive Adkins, Lucy Adkins and Truett Adkins. He is also survived by his sister, Teresa Harris (Darrell); 3 nieces, 2 great-nieces, 2 great-nephews, 1 great-great-nephew and 1 great-great-niece as well as many wonderful friends and former coworkers.

Jerry spent 27 years working in the equipment rental industry, retiring from United Rentals, Inc. in 2015. His hard work and loyalty were instrumental in growing United Rentals into the Fortune 400 company it is today. He was an avid UK Wildcats fan, as well as a fan of the Cincinnati Reds and Cincinnati Bengals. Known for his generosity and fun-loving spirit, Jerry always welcomed friends and family into his home. So many memories were created in those moments which he cherished tremendously. His love and laughter will remain legendary.

A Celebration of Life gathering will take place on June 12, 2026, beginning at 4 pm at the Boone Links Clubhouse Event Center in Florence, KY.
