Dr. Jill Lindberg passed away at the age of 65 on May 27, 2021. She was born in Oak Park, IL on May 20, 1956 to the late Reverend Richard E. Horst and Barbara A. Horst. She grew up in Rockford, IL, attended medical school in Chicago, and served in the Army from 1978-1991 reaching the rank of Major. She resided in San Francisco, and San Antonio before later settling in New Orleans where she worked as a nephrologist and partner with New Orleans Nephrology Associates. She also served as the medical director and head of the medical advisory board for Fresenius Kidney Care. Jill was a member of the American Society of Nephrology, the National Kidney Foundation, the American Society of Bone and Mineral Research, the American College of Physicians, and the American Medical Association. In her career, she was distinguished with many awards and accolades. Being a well-known and highly respected nephrologist in New Orleans for over 30 years, she leaves behind a legacy of thankful patients. She was as committed to her patients as she was to her family. Jill was a loving mother to so many beyond her own children, a devoted friend, and an exceptional physician. When she wasn’t caring for patients, she loved to host parties for her loved ones as the “hostess with the mostess”. She also loved to cook and would often make meals to drop off on the doorsteps of her friends and family, even while balancing her busy schedule. Jill was an angel on earth and leaves behind many family members and friends who will miss her for the rest of their days.
She is survived by: her son, Blake Lindberg (Nicole Boileau); her daughter, Allison Lindberg (Richard Koski); her sisters, Julie Horst and Jodi Horst-Miller (Shane); her great aunt, Caroline Barnebey (Warren); her stepdaughter, Kristin Mirabal; her stepson, Jeff Copley (Adriana); her grandchildren, Alex and Tony Mirabal, and Nicholas and Liam Copley.
The family would like to give special thanks to the medical staff at East Jefferson General Hospital, Touro Infirmary, and University Medical Center for taking great care of Jill over the last several months.
