

Joan Perilloux Estopinal passed away peacefully on August 22, 2026, in Baton Rouge, LA at the age of 93. She was born on September 10, 1932, to the late Edgar A. Perilloux and Laura W. Perilloux and was a long-time resident of New Orleans, LA.
Joan was married for 46 years to her beloved husband, Richard L. Estopinal, who preceded her in death. Together, they owned and ran Richard's Restaurant for more than 40 years, building not only a business but a legacy of hard work, dedication, and family.
She is also preceded in death by her sister, Lorraine P. Abadie and her brothers, Edgar A. Perilloux and Earl J. Perilloux Sr.
Joan is survived by her beloved children, Judith A. Smith and her late husband John, Kathy E. Dicharry, Linda E. Vellman and her husband William, and Richard L. Estopinal and his wife Susan. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Laura, Lee, Sara, Katie, Rikki, Brett, and Trent; her great-grandchildren, Cooper, Spencer, Tucker, Malia, Liam, Eliott, and Avery; and numerous nieces and nephews, especially Denise, Carol, and Laurie, who held a special place in her heart.
Joan took immense pride and found great joy in being a grandmother and great-grandmother. She especially treasured the many afternoons she spent with her great-grandchildren Cooper, Spencer, and Tucker. She had a huge heart and will be deeply missed by all of her loved ones.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service on Friday, August 28, 2026, at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. New Orleans, LA. Visitation will be held from 12:30 PM – 1 PM with a funeral Mass t begin at 1 PM. Interment will follow at Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum.
