OBITUARY
Joan Graham Glynn
July 10, 1930 – April 3, 2021
Joan Glynn, a native New Orleanian, born July 10, 1930, peacefully passed away on April 3, 2021, following a brief infirmity. She was the daughter of Mr. And Mrs. Robert F. Glynn (Adeline Rehage). Miss Glynn was educated at Ursuline Academy and College where she received her B.S. Degree in chemistry. Miss Glynn worked for a number of years at Shilstone Laboratories as a chemical analyst and later, until her retirement, was a chemist for the State of Louisiana.
Miss Glynn was a lifelong member of St. Stephen Catholic Church and that community was an integral part of her life. Her faithful attendance and dedicated service to the St. Vincent DePaul Society gave her great joy. She was an accomplished seamstress and knitter; she excelled in all types of needlework and frequently gifted others with her work.
Miss Glynn was an interesting person and an interested person; she was always engaged in learning and a bright, delightful conversationalist. She had a love for nature and was an enthusiastic repository of information about plant and animal life. Her particular fondness was for birds, camellias, azaleas, and pine trees. This was borne from the hours she spent as a child at the family retreat in Waldheim, Louisiana. All of her life it was a place where she focused her passion for the beauty of God’s creation that surrounded her. Mr. and Mrs. Robert McComiskey wish to extend their thanks to the excellent healthcare workers of Touro Infirmary, as well as to Fr. Doug. Their diagnosis, treatment, and encouragement, from E.R. to Rehab, greatly eased her journey over the last 2 months. Miss Glynn made this passage with characteristic grace and humility, an example to many. Her dear friends’, the McWilliams, Bill, Debby, and Gail, care and comfort during her last few days was a blessing.
Visitation for Miss Glynn will be held at St. Stephen Church, 1025 Napoleon Avenue, New Orleans, Louisiana on Thursday April 8, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. A funeral mass follows at 11:00 a.m.

Whenever I think of sweet Miss Glynn I see a southern lady - someone who was kind and loving - independent and strong, yet gentle. Her life exemplified these characteristics as well as her strong Christian beliefs. Knowing Miss Glynn was an honor.
