Joan Chapron Reginelli passed away peacefully at the age of 86 on Thursday, April 29, 2021. She was born in New Orleans in 1934 to Joseph P. Chapron and Theresa Rotherham Chapron. She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Anthony Reginelli; her sister, Barbara Youngblood (Don); her children, Anthony Reginelli, Jr., Gaynell Garey (the late Michael), and Darryl Reginelli (Angela); her grandchildren, Brittany Pearson (Jeremy), Anthony “Tre” III, and Gabrielle “Brie” Reginelli, Eleanore “Elli”, Enzo and Stefan Reginelli; her great-grandchildren, Theresa “Tessa” and Landon Pearson; her cousin, Charlene Mauterer (Louis), and many nieces and nephews.

Joan lived in New Orleans since her birth in 1934. She attended St. Mary’s Dominican High School, where she developed her strong sense of faith in God. She worked as a sales associate at D.H.Holmes, Mel’s Monograms, and at Tulane Health Center. She mostly enjoyed her time spent with family. Through prayer adoration she expressed her devotion to the blessed sacrament at Holy Name of Jesus Adoration Chapel for many years. She was a member of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, and later of Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church. She tirelessly served at Our Lady of Lourdes Senior Center. She was the ultimate coaches wife and sports mom. She supported her husband and family no matter what the endeavor. She spent many days and nights on the sidelines or helping out. She also enjoyed time spent with Tony’s large family in the country. Her joy came from her faith, volunteer service, and most of all, her family. She measured success in life by all that was important: faith, love and family. She will forever be loved and missed by all.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Memorial Mass at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans, on Friday, May 7, 2021 at 2:00PM. A visitation will be held at the funeral home beginning at 12:00PM. A private interment will take place in Metairie Cemetery.

Dear Coach,
I was very sad to hear the news about Joan’s passing. I’m thankful for the knowledge your loving family is there to support you and know you are most comforted by the fact that she is at peace with God. Jan and I will pray for His comfort to you.
If I may be allowed to borrow a bit from Bob Lane-my years at Newman, and the relationships I formed, helped me through some trying times and molded me into the man and dad I became. You were such an integral part of that part of my life as a mentor and coach and I am forever grateful. Many memories of those days are fresh and are frequently discussed by your former players and students.
God Bless,
Britt

Dear Coach, I was saddened to learn of Joan's death. I know she was ill for much of the last period of her life and I am sorry for the suffering she experienced. I hope you were able to share with her during her last days and that that will be some comfort for you.

I hope your family is able to be with you during this time of grief. Please know that, though we are not in New Orleans, there are many, many of us all over this country who share your grief at this time, and are sending you comforting thoughts and prayers.

You should also know that this is far from the first time I have thought about my time at Newman and the role you played in that wonderful experience. I smile thinking about the times you brought Skeets a little dose of reality, while always supporting his love for the game and the players who played it. Your memory is still very much a part of my life. I should have reached out sooner to say thank you for all that you brought to those of us privileged to wear that bright green "N" on our jerseys.

With love and prayers for your comfort and peace,
Bob

She was such an amazing, kind aunt. I have such fond memories of her on her Delta visits to MS. Always caring, with gentle humor, and compassionate. My prayers to Uncle Tony, Reggie, Gaynell, and Darryl and their family through this difficult time. Above all, I remember her as a devoted family person and Christian! Much love and hugs to all! 🙏🙏🙏
