Joaquin “Jack” Campoy passed away on Monday, November 3, 2014 while surrounded by his family. He was 89 years old. Jack was born in St. Louis, MO., and later raised in Bloomfield, MO., where he graduated from Bloomfield High School and recently attended his 70th high school reunion. He continued his education at Northwestern University in Chicago, and graduated with a Juris Doctorate Degree from Northwestern Law School. He was licensed to practice law in Illinois, Missouri and Louisiana, and was a member of the Louisiana Bar Association and a sixty year member of the New Orleans Bar Association. Jack began practicing law and became a member with the firm of Deutsch, Kerrigan and Stiles. He later partnered and formed the law firm of Campoy, Hurley and Senter and retired as a single practitioner.
Jack was a Commander in the U.S. Navy, and served during the Korean Conflict. He remained in the Naval Reserves for 22 years.
Jack was a member of multiple organizations including the Military Order of the World Wars, New Orleans Country Club, Southern Yacht Club, Pendennis Club, Celtic Club, Azalea Club, Waynesville Country Club in North Carolina, MENSA and Sociedad Espanola.
Jack was a photographer, an avid golfer (having accomplished four holes in one) as well as a seasoned world traveler with his wife Dinney.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Dianne “Dinney” Campoy; his daughter, Linda Shields (Pat); stepdaughter, Kathryn Broussard (Mark); stepson, Jack M. Gordon, Jr. (Korie); three grandchildren, Kelly McBride, Brandon McBride, and Mandy Shields; brother-in-law, Bruce Johnson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joaquin and Mary Adeline Campoy; his first wife of 30 years, Diane Mary Bourgeois; son, J. Collins Campoy; and his sister, June Johnson.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral service at LAKE LAWN METAIRIE FUNERAL HOME, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans, on Friday, November 7, 2014 at 2:00PM. A visitation will be held at the funeral home beginning at 12:30PM. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of Louisiana, 3445 N.
