John Shelton Carter

John Shelton Carter passed away at his residence on Saturday, August 22, 2015 at the age of 77. Beloved husband of Linda Diaz Carter. Son of the late John David Carter and Elizabeth Irene Orr Carter. Loving father of Dominick S. Carter, Susan Carter D’Antoni and her husband Larry, Monique Carter Bonnaffons and her husband Rob. Brother of Ardath Zimmermann, Mary Kennedy and the late Herbert Carter and William Carter. Grandfather of John Stephen Ernest, Carter Kronlage and Kailyn Kronlage. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

John was born in New Orleans and reared in Bucktown USA. He retired from the Painter's Union Local No. 1244. He was hard working, larger than life, funny and the most loving husband and father. He had many talents including a love for his '66 Chevy, building furniture, farming and his horses. He left behind a beautiful legacy and many accomplishments that will be carried on by his wife and children.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Services at LAKE LAWN METAIRIE FUNERAL HOME, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. on Saturday, August 29, 2015 at 12:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Metairie Cemetery.
