John was a graduate of The Most Holy Name of Jesus School, Jesuit High School and Loyola University. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and went on to establish a successful career in investment banking. John, fondly known as “Bro,” was a larger than life man who lived to the fullest. He loved the beach, entertaining at the Sand Dollar, singing Irish songs, working in the yard, and spending time with his grandchildren. He will truly be missed by all his family and friends.

The family would like to give special thanks to the caregivers and staff at Woldenberg, Dr. Sidney Smith and Dr. Mike Happel.

My condolences to the family and friends from John's classmate way back then at Jesuit High School. John is now rejoicing with other "J"-named blessed ones, such as Joseph and Jesus. I offered mass for him today at my current Jesuit ministry, White House Jesuit Retreat in Saint Louis.

John Glas was a wonderful person and a friend. John was generous and loved to sing Irish songs. John would converse with anyone that approached him. John always displayed a friendly demeanor.
With his usual flair, John portrayed St. Patrick on St. Patrick's Day at Paddy O'Leary's Irish Pub. John's picture in his St. Patrick's regalia is on the wall at Paddy O'Leary's Irish Pub. John is also captured in a portrait dressed as St. Patrick on display at Paddy O'Leary's Irish Pub.

John will always be remembered by us. I am sure John is singing Irish songs in heaven.

Mrs Glas, Charlotte, Nanette and Jerry -
I’m so sorry for your loss!! Some of my dad’s favorite stories to this day include John Glas. He was a good friend to him, and his sense of humor always had Dad in stitches! He can hardly tell the stories he is laughing so hard. I know he will have Heaven ringing with laughter!
You family is in my prayers!!

My deepest sympathies go to the Glas family. I’m so grateful to have had John Glas as my “parrain” and equally grateful that he was such a dear, lifelong friend to my Dad. I’ll always remember late night visits to Baskin-Robbins in our PJs, rides to Pensacola with Nanette in the back of the big Cadillac, and how he made the whole neighborhood feel like an extension of home. I loved his gregarious personality, his generosity, and the way he honored traditions. Wish I could give you all a big hug. - Elise (Torre) Carner

What great neighbors we had back in the 70s with all the Glas’. We feel your sorrow, Mary, Jerry, Charlotte, and Nanette.
Also, sorry for your loss brother, Jim.
Great times on Octavia St. blowouts and fun trips to Pensacola with Bro, Uncle Buddy and other wonderful clients of John’s. A good neighbor here in Georgia , Don Spedale, also passes on condolences as he knew the family . You are in our thoughts .
