John was preceded in death by his parents, Consuelo Papadopoulos and James Espinosa.
He is survived by his two sisters, Maria Papadopoulos - Arnold and Tesa Lujano; nieces, Ava Papadopoulos and Isabella Arnold; nephew, Hugo J. Lujano; aunt and Godmother, Cide Pipitone; and his two life partners, Larry Shinn and Thomas Vargas.
John was born in New York, New York on November 26, 1963. He had a Bachelor of Science degree, and was a nuclear engineer. He was a proud veteran of the U. S. Navy.
John loved music, and was a salsa musician and played the keyboard. He was a Trekkie for life.
The family would like to acknowledge and give a special thank you to the U. S. Department of Veteran’s Affairs.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the memorial Mass at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 444 Metairie Rd. in Metairie, on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at 11:00AM. A visitation will be held at the church beginning at 10:30AM.
