Born in Ft. Worth, TX in 1945, he worked in the oil fields for the family pipeline business and later retired as an oil company executive. John attended West Point, TCU, Texas Tech Univ., Univ. of MD, and Harvard Business School. After serving 3 years in the Navy, he worked for Exxon in NYC, London, Copenhagen, and Houston before settling in Metairie where he worked for LL&E. His broad interests included math, astrophysics, art, wine, and world travel. He leaves his wife and travel companion of 53 years, Joan; son, Robert; sisters, Anna Jackson and Malinda Cowen; niece, Christina Jackson; and nephew, Greg Jackson. Memorial services will be 11 AM on August 29 at Good Shepherd Anglican Church, 5122 W. Esplanade Ave, Metairie, LA. Family requests in lieu of flowers to support any veterans organization.
