John Henry Palmer, Jr.

John Henry Palmer, Jr., devoted husband and beloved Uncle, entered the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at 1:21 p.m. at the age of 95 years old. Entering Heaven, he was reunited with his loving wife of 42 years, Theresa Eunice Poche Palmer. John was born on July 22, 1926 to Elizabeth Beauregard Palmer and John Henry Palmer, Sr. After graduation from Jesuit High School in 1943, John attended one year at North Carolina State College of Agricultural and Engineering before being drafted in the United States Army during WWII. After serving his country for two years, John graduated from NCSAE in June 1950 with a General Engineering degree. Upon moving back to Metairie LA, he started a distinguished career with Graybar Electric retiring after 37 years. John was lifetime member of the American Legion Post 175, where he served as Finance Officer, a member of VFW Post 6640, La Societe Des 40 Hommes ET 8 Chexaux. John loved the New Orleans Saints, and was an original season ticket holder. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother William Eugene Palmer, Sr. (Cathryn Eller). John is survived by his 2 nieces Cathryn C. Palmer and Christine M. Palmer (Renee); his 3 nephews William E. Palmer (Carey), Robert J. Palmer (Patricia), and Michael E. Palmer (Jessica).

Special thanks to his niece, Cathryn Palmer for her unwavering dedication to ensuring Uncle John (UJ) was well taken care of in his final months.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. New Orleans, LA on Thursday, October 14, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. Interment will follow in All Saints Mausoleum. Visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m. until time of Mass.
