John W. "T-John" Seely

John W. “T-John” Seely passed away at his Kenner home on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at the age of 90. He was born on January 31, 1936, in Thibodaux, Louisiana and was raised on Milan Street in Uptown New Orleans. He attended Alcée Fortier High School. After high school, he proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army from 1956 – 1958. He was employed at American Can Company and Western Electric before starting his own paint contracting business and managing his rental properties. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus as well as the Oblong Golf Club, where he regularly played with his lifelong friends who coined the nickname “T-John”. He taught about and instilled his passion for golf and fishing in his grandchildren. Above anything else, he loved spending time with his beloved family – particularly his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Phyllis Vollmers Seely; daughter, Terri Seely Denny (Joe); son, Bryan Philip Seely (Andy); brother, Thomas Sylvester “Sal” Seely, Jr. (Carolyn); grandchildren, Chase Denny (fiancée Alayna), Cole Denny, Ava Seely, Gavin Seely, and Kyla Seely; niece, Catherine “Cathy” Seely Lambert (Ted); nephew, Thomas Sylvester “Tommy” Seely III (Susan); and many friends that he’s treasured since childhood.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Irene Bouy and Thomas Sylvester Seely, Sr.; brother, Gerald Thomas Seely (the late Rose Marie Seely); and sister-in-law, Cynthia Vollmers Seely.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the entire staff of Care Associates Hospice, particularly Georgette and Angel, his caretakers; Stephanie Ponder; Donna Foto; and all of the family and friends who assisted in his care.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd in New Orleans, on Friday, February 27, 2026. Visitation will begin at 10 AM with a Mass following in the chapel at 12 PM. John will be laid to rest in Lake Lawn Park immediately after the Mass has concluded.
