John David Stahl "Jack"

John David Stahl “Jack”, 60, passed away Thursday, March 22, 2018. He is survived by his beloved wife of 20 years, Glenda Ballatin and her son Ian. He is also survived by his former wife Cecilia Battalora Stahl of Waveland, MS; their children, Lorien Elmore, Keyes Mueller, Katie Keel (Murray) John Stahl; and grandchildren Audrey Elmore and Maddison and Sophia Mueller. Surviving siblings include Nanci Kuntz (Johnny), Andrea Kingsmill (Tim), Lisa Petagna (Brent), David Stahl (Mary) and Tim Stahl. He was preceded in death by his parents John B. and Lorraine Sanchez Stahl.

Jack was a native New Orleanian, born Jan. 6, 1958. He attended Holy Name of Jesus School and De La Salle High School. He began his career early, working alongside his father as a riverboat captain, becoming one of the youngest licensed riverboat pilots in the state. In later years, Jack started his own contracting business, renovating houses in Mississippi and New Orleans. He was a highly skilled craftsman and took great pride in all of his work. When he wasn’t working, Jack was sailing his 46-foot sailboat, the Tahiti, with his dogs, and new and old friends alike. He will be remembered for his creative mind, sense of adventure and generous heart.

A Requiem Mass will be offered at noon Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Interment will be in Metairie Cemetery.
