

John Aloysius Stassi II died on January 1, 2025. He was born in New Orleans on September 11, 1937, to Amy Rivet and John Aloysius Stassi, both of whom predeceased him. He was a lifelong resident of Old Metairie. He attended St. Francis Xavier Catholic School, Jesuit High School, and Tulane University, where he graduated from the College of Law in 1962.
He began his career as a trial lawyer in the Tax Division of the U.S. Department of Justice and engaged in private practice in New Orleans for more than 50 years. He founded CommCare Corporation, a multi-facility, non-profit, long term care provider and served as its CEO and chairman until his retirement in 2021. He served on the boards of directors of Angel Wings Foundation, The Blood Center, and the Olympic Sailing Association. He was a member of the Southern Yacht Club, The Pickwick Club, and several carnival organizations.
He is survived by Kathleen Judlin Stassi, his loving wife of more than 50 years; his five children, John A. Stassi III (Caroline Jory Stassi), David A. Stassi, R. Matthew Stassi, Sarah Stassi (John Gilligan), and Miriam Stassi; and his seven grandchildren Joseph and Andrew Stassi, Georgietta and Stelios Zissis Stassi, Susan and Sophia Stassi, and Miles Steger.
Funeral services will be private. Relatives and friends are invited to a celebration of John’s life at the Southern Yacht Club on Saturday, January 11 at 11:00 AM.
