Obituary of Jonathan Christopher McCall
IN THE CARE OF

Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home & Cemeteries

Jonathan C. McCall, age 75, died on June 15, 2026. He was born in New Orleans and attended Holy Name of Jesus School and Metairie Park Country Day School; St. Paul’s School, in New Hampshire; and Princeton University. He worked for the office of Mayor Moon Landrieu before going to Tulane Law School, and then practiced law at Monroe & Lemann and later at Chaffe McCall. There he gained recognition for his contributions to the firm’s appellate practice, serving as Founding Co-Chair of the Appellate Practice Committee of the New Orleans Bar Association, before retiring as a Partner Emeritus.

Beyond his legal achievements, Jonathan was deeply committed to civic and charitable service. He was a member of the boards of the American Red Cross (Southeast Louisiana), Tulane University Medical Center (president), WYES-TV (president), Friends of the Stables in Audubon Park, New Orleans Friends of Music (president), Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra, and New Orleans Opera Association, as well as being a member and board member of Mardi Gras krewes and social organizations.

He was married to Jane W. McCall, who died in 2016, and is survived by a son, Jonathan C. McCall, Jr. (Sara) and a daughter, Alston M. Nelson (Tim); and by six grandchildren, Alexander, Coalter, and Zoe McCall, and Evelyn, Emmett, and Jonathan Nelson. He spent his retired years as a dedicated father and grandfather, attending numerous soccer, hockey and lacrosse games, as well as squash and tennis matches.

There will be a private family burial, followed by a gathering of remembrance and celebration on July 9 at the New Orleans Lawn Tennis Club. The family requests that any memorial contributions be made to the McCall Fund at the Greater New Orleans Foundation.
