Joseph Anthony Cuccia Jr.

Joseph Anthony Cuccia Jr., affectionately known as Joe, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2026, at the age of 81. He leaves behind a beautiful legacy of unconditional love, selflessness, generosity, and unwavering devotion to his family.

Joe was the beloved husband of Cheryl Amato Cuccia for 60 wonderful years. He loved Cheryl deeply and missed her dearly. The bond they shared was a beautiful example of what it means to truly love and care for another person. They did everything together and found some of their greatest happiness in the simplest moments—cooking for their family, watching their favorite TV series, sitting side by side on the deck in the evenings, and simply enjoying each other’s company. They built a life rooted in love, laughter, family, and countless cherished memories.

He was the most selfless and giving father to Charel Maheu (Chris) and Janine Macaluso (Nicholas), always putting his daughters and their families before himself. He was a devoted Grandpa to Christopher Maheu II (Amanda), Connor Maheu, Catie Maheu, Savanah Macaluso, and Sarah Macaluso D’Angelo (Collin). His daughters and grandchildren brought him immense pride and joy, and he treasured every moment he spent with them.

To his family, Joe was their steady presence, their helper, their provider, and the person they could always count on. If someone needed something, Joe was there. He cooked delicious breakfasts, hosted every family holiday, delivered food on Sundays to his daughters, and was always ready to “uber” his daughters and grandchildren wherever they needed to go. He had a remarkable way of putting everyone else’s needs before his own, giving freely of his time, his energy, and his love without ever expecting anything in return.

Joe was happiest when he was busy, always looking for the next project to do. He took great pride in working in his garden and keeping his home in tip-top shape. He found satisfaction in taking care of things, fixing things, helping others, and making sure the people around him were cared for. Joe was a man who showed his love through everything he did.

Joe graduated from Holy Cross High School in 1962 and earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in 1967. He spent more than 27 years managing his family’s grocery store, B&C Supermarket. After the store closed, Joe worked at A-1 Asphalt as the Office Manager for 29 years before finally retiring.

Joe was a loving brother to Joanne Quirk (the late Jim Quirk), Ronnie Cuccia (Nancy), Jack Cuccia, and Gary Cuccia. He was also a cherished brother-in-law to Richard Amato (the late Susan Amato) and beloved uncle to his many nieces and nephews.

Joe was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Cheryl Cuccia; his parents, Joseph A. Cuccia Sr. and Della Breaux Cuccia; and other loved ones who were waiting to welcome him home.

He was a husband who adored his wife, a father who would do anything for his daughters, a grandpa who cherished his grandchildren, a brother, uncle, and friend who could always be counted on. His family will remember his kindness, his generosity, his quiet strength, and the countless ways he made their lives easier and better. They are grateful for every day they were blessed to have him, for every memory they shared, and for the love that will remain with them forever.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home on Friday, August 28, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., with visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m.
