OBITUARY

Joseph "Jody" H. Hart, IV

April 24, 1966April 28, 2021

Joseph “Jody” H. Hart, IV passed away on April 28, 2021 in New Orleans, Louisiana at the age of 55. He was the beloved son and survived by his parents, Karen Baizen Hart and Joseph H. Hart, III, his wife, Michele Allen-Hart, and twins Avery and Harry.

Born in Louisville, Kentucky, he was a graduate of Kentucky Country Day School, Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service, and Tulane University School of Law. Jody was unapologetically honest and spoke hard truths. He was a Renaissance man who believed that there was no skill, trade, or profession that without a willingness to study and try, that he couldn’t or didn’t master. He was a trial lawyer, writer, mentor, mechanic, engineer, plumber, artist, tailor, electrician, programmer, IT guru, carpenter, mason, plane builder, fine furniture maker, and planned to learn to weld for his 55th birthday.

He was a loving and dedicated father, husband, brother, and son. Jody was proud of his service to the community, especially to the board of the Jewish Community Day School, and most recently the Jewish Endowment Foundation of Louisiana. His final act of generosity was to give the gift of life through organ donation. He will always be remembered and loved.

Jody and I were friends in middle and high school in Louisville, KY. I always remembered him as being a brilliant, witty and special guy. Although we never connected after graduation, I will always remember Jody and smile when I think about him. All of us sure had some fun times together. It's so sad that he left us so early in his life!

I will be thinking about you Jody! My deepest condolences to the entire family! So sorry!

Many of us at the Louisiana State Bar Association had the privilege of working with Jody through the Diversity Committee. Jody lead by example by volunteering to educate others regarding bias and the good that simply comes from treating others with dignity and fairness. Jody will be missed along with his contribution to the committee. Peace and strength to the family. Thank you to Jody’s wife and children for sharing him with us. Trish

Jody was one of my best friends in high school. Not sure how many weekends we did not hang out with friends. His wit and frankness, kindness and fortitude are forever a part of me. My heart is broken. We spoke last fall and planned to keep more in touch. I was so happy to to see him at our Thanksgiving Louisville friends gatherings. I will not forget his beautiful way, his voice or the memories we had.

Sending love to Jody’s family. May his memory always support you, especially now.

On a personal note, I’m thankful for Jody’s help with legal and educational issues surrounding our son’s special needs. Jody was a fine lawyer with sharp skills. We valued his contributions to our firm when he was with us.

I've worked with Jody for many years and have a great deal of respect for how he approached his work with honesty treating others with dignity and respect while still maintaining a strong position. He embodied all we could want in a friend and business associate. His legacy will live on for years to come in all that he achieved. I will miss everything he brought as an attorney and human being overall. To Jody's family and close friends, you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Wow, such a loss. Friends in high school, connected a few times after - I remember sitting on the heater in the school hallway, waking in his parents basement floor after “a fun night” and HIS profile is the one forever in my memory on the Maxell tape poster ... so glad to hear marriage, adulthood and fatherhood suited Jody so well.

My condolences to all family and friends. May his memory be a blessing!

Jody was a classmate of mine from Kentucky Country Day School in Louisville, KY. I remember Jody well. Smart, witty and fun to be around. We didn't cross paths much after we graduated, but I always considered him a friend. I am so sad to hear of his passing.

Please know you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.
