Joseph was preceded in death by his beloved son, Dylan James Hursey, and his parents, Arthur and Mary “Bettye” Hursey.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Teresa “Terri” Frisby Hursey; his daughter, Traci Michele Hursey; his granddaughter, Dylann Hursey; his three sisters, Katherine “Kay” Hursey Andre, Mary Beth Hursey Lanassa; and Jan Marie Hursey; his niece, Gina Gatti Finney (Tim); and his nephew, Frank Ross Gatti, IV.
Joseph was born in New Orleans on August 2, 1949. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, where he spent time on the USS Kitty Hawk. His career spanned 30 years with South Central Bell / BellSouth until his retirement in 2002. He was a member of the Krewe of Dreux, where he reigned as King XX.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the graveside service at Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum, 5454 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans, on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at 11:00AM.
