Joseph Louis Kabel, Jr.

Joseph Louis Kabel, Jr. of New Orleans, Louisiana, at the age of 98 passed away on July 3, 2026. Son of the late Joseph Louis Kabel, Sr. and the late Catherine Marie Scanio Kabel. He was the loving husband of the late Conchetta Ferrara Kabel. Brother of the late Lawrence S. Kabel (Helen B. Kabel), Jewel K. Kabel Bailey (Wallace A. Bailey, Sr.).

Loving Father of Katherine A. Kabel and Jo A. Kabel Balliviero. Proud Grandfather of John Paul Balliviero, Jr., Angie L. Balliviero, and Sherry L. Balliviero Farry (Joseph E. Farry) and proud Great Grandfather to Joseph S. Farry and Isabel A. Farry. Special friend with Robin Ljungberg. Also, survived by a host of nieces and nephews.

Joseph, known as Joe to most, retired as a Captain with the New Orleans Fire Department after years of dedicated service. A devoted husband, father, grandfather and provider, he spent his life caring for his family and always striving to make their lives better until his final day. Joe enjoyed music, gardening, woodworking, electronics, and baking bread and rarely sat still for long. He had a kind heart, a wonderful sense of humor, and brought warmth and laughter to those around him. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, LA 70124 on Thursday, July 9, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. with a Funeral Mass to follow at 1:00 p.m. Interment will take place at St. Louis Cemetery No. 3.
