

Joseph John Puglia “Joe” entered into eternal rest on January 1, 2017 in Covington, LA, at the age of 90. He was a lifelong resident of New Orleans. He was the beloved husband of the late Hilda Claire Duceung Puglia. Loving father of Cynthia Puglia, Claire Puglia Conn (Wiley), and Joseph John Puglia, Jr. Devoted grandfather “Pépère” of Kim G. Haar, Melissa Puglia, Elizabeth LaRosa, Angela Puglia, Paul LaRosa, III (Noele); and one great grandson Cole Haar. He is also survived by his devoted brother Peter A. Puglia and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents John Baptiste Puglia and Jacomina Radosta Puglia. Joe graduated from Warren Easton High School and then went on to the United States Maritime Service Radio Training Station and served his country as a Merchant Marine Radio Operator. Upon his return from the military, he opened Puglia’s Quality Foods (1948-1984) at 1100 N Rampart with his father and his brother; where they were best known for their “Pisa Brand” Italian sausage and specialty foods. After retiring, golf became his new passion. He was a member of the Here Today Club, and went on many golfing trips across the country. He was also a member of Ancient Scribes Carnival Club. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and will be greatly missed by those who knew him. The family wishes to extend special thanks to his compassionate caregiver Lisa Holloway and the staff at The Trace Assisted Living Facility in Covington, LA. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Alzheimer’s Association www.alzfdn.org Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral Mass at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd, New Orleans, LA 70124 on Thursday, January 5, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. followed by interment in Metairie Cemetery. Visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 11:00 a.m.
