Joseph Merlin Rachel

Joseph M. Rachel passed away on Friday, May 23, 2025, at the age of 74. He was born in Metairie to the late Tina and Merlin Rachel. Joseph had a long career as an electrical technician. He had a passion for health and fitness, specifically body building. Joseph was an artist from an early age with a creative mind. He was always trying to bring his imagination to life, especially during Halloween with props and costumes. Joseph was also a true friend who was always available to give advice when needed. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Salvadore P. Rachel, Sr.; and brother-in-law, Frederick Little. Joseph is survived by his daughters, Michelle Rachel Syed (Derrick Syed) and Angela Rachel; his sister, Josephine Rachel Little; grandchildren, Ryan, Nathan, Micah, Isaiah and Isabelle; his niece, Tina Banner (Marc); nephew, Salvadore Rachel, Jr. (Deborah); great-nephew, Blake Banner (Lizzie); great-great nephew, Braden Banner; and great-great niece, Isabella. We would like to give special thanks to his “family” at Lucky Coin-AMA Distributers of which he was employed for over 30 years and the friends and family who rallied around us during this difficult time. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service held at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. New Orleans, LA on Thursday, May 29, 2025. The visitation will be from 9:00AM until the service begins at 11:00AM in the chapel. Interment will follow in Lake Lawn Park.
