Joseph J. “J.J.” Ranna passed away on Sunday, November 30, 2014, age 90 years. Beloved husband of the late Betty Jean Youngblood Ranna. Father of Keith Ranna and Gayle Crocker (Dr. Ian Crocker). Grandfather of Michelle, Leigh, and Cade Songy. Brother of the late Donald T. Ranna.
A graduate of Tulane University in Mechanical Engineering, he was a Naval Officer in World War II, and later went on to work for Gerald Hines Interest as a commercial real estate developer. Noted developments included One Shell Square, and other major high-rise office buildings in Chicago, Miami, and Columbus, Ohio. His passions were travelling, hunting, fishing, scuba diving, tennis, and his home on Little Cayman Island.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Services at LAKE LAWN METAIRIE FUNERAL HOME, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans, on Thursday, December 4, 2014. Visitation will begin at 1:30 PM, with the service to follow at 3:00 PM. Interment will be held in Metairie Cemetery.
