It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joseph Ogden Sciortino, a devoted husband, loving father, and cherished grandfather, who peacefully passed away on February 20, 2025, at the age of 76.
Born in New Orleans, Louisiana. He owned Acme Crankshaft Grinding Company and with the help of Roddy LaCour, they serviced the Greater New Orleans area, Houma, and Golden Meadow.
His lifelong passion for fishing, gardening, and crafting brought him immense joy, often sharing his love for cooking with family and friends. He also loved celebrating Mardi Gras both as a spectator and rider through the years.
Preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Caroline, his stepfather, Tony Giambalvo, and his daughter, Jennifer.
He is survived by his children, Joseph (Erin) and Jessica (Jude) from his marriage to Suzanne Sciortino; sister, Susan Prats; grandchildren, Katie (Jason), Sara, and Austin; longtime friend, Ann Dominique; and many other close friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial gathering at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans, on Friday, March 14, 2025 from 11:00AM until 2:00PM.
