

Josie Marie Pelicano Lobello was called home to the Lord on Friday, August 1, 2014, at the age of 86. Born in New Orleans on October 29, 1927 she attended St. Augustine Elementary and graduated from John McDonough High. Later she completed business studies at Soule’ Business College and was a Third Order Lay Carmelite. As a young woman she worked for the United Fruit Company, and later for McKenzie’s Bakery. She married Vincent Lobello and was an exceptionally devoted mother, grandmother, and homemaker. She loved cooking fine Italian dishes she learned from her mother and grandmother.
She is survived by daughters Ann Marie Lobello, Mary Lynn Lobello (Lynn Hall); granddaughter Carmel Lobello; niece Angela Pelicano Shockley; nephew Anthony John Pelicano, Jr. (Linda); sisters-in-law Bessie Lobello Christoffel and Rita Lobello; step-sister Margie T. Mauterer (Raymond); step-brother Robert J. Tranchina; and a large extended family of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband Captain Vincent Lobello, NOPD; devoted mother Lena P. Tranchina; father Joseph Arturo Pelicano; step-father Nicholas J. Tranchina; and brother Anthony John Pelicano, Sr. (Virginia); step-sister-in—law JoAnn Tranchina.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at LAKE LAWN METAIRIE FUNERAL HOME, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans, on Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at 1:00 PM. Interment will follow in Lake Lawn Park. A visitation will be held at the funeral home beginning at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, Masses preferred.
