Joyce Bindewald Cambias

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald C. Cambias; parents, Joseph and Ursula Vath Bindewald; brothers, Joseph Bindewald and Michael Bindewald; and sisters, Beryl Theriot and Urusla Schaff.

Joyce is survived by her son, Gerald C. Cambias, Jr. (Joan); daughter, Jan Cambias Salzer (Stephen); grandchildren, Craig Cambias (Amy), Sara Herring (Josh), Stephanie Salzer Montz (Jordan), and Joseph Salzer (Kathleen). She is also survived by nine great grandchildren. Joyce was the oldest of nine children, survived by June Ramoneda, Cathy Bindewald (Sister Andree Marie, O’Carm), David Bindewald (Letty), and Beth Bindewald. She was loved by her many nieces and nephews.

Joyce graduated from Mt. Carmel Academy and Suele Business College. She worked at New Orleans Film Row for Eagle, Lion and United Artist in the 1940’s, with her husband at Cambias Office Equipment Co., Inc. in the 1950’s and Selective Services in the 1960’s. She was a member of CPA Wives Club, Les Nouvelles, Marians of Metairie, St. Elizabeth Guild, and the Go-Go Girls. Joyce loved her Catholic faith, the rosary, card games, and afternoon martinis. Please say a rosary and have a cocktail in her honor.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the memorial Mass at St. Angela Merici Catholic Church, 901 Beverly Garden Dr. in Metairie, on Friday, September 9, 2022 at 12:30PM. Visitation will be at the church beginning at 11:30AM. The interment will be private.
