Joyce S. Dawson

Joyce Scramuzza Dawson, passed away peacefully in Slidell on Friday, December 11, 2015, at 12:09 a.m. at age 85. Devoted wife of Bartholomew J. Dawson. Loving mother of Toni Dawson Hymel, mother-in-law of Alton C. Hymel, Jr. Grandmother of Jennifer Marie Hymel and Scott Michael Hymel (Danielle). Great grandmother of Cameron Hutson and Cullen, Lucas, and Wyatt Hymel. Daughter of the late Salvadore Dominic Scramuzza and Marie Lorenz Scramuzza. Sister of Marlene Scramuzza Ragusa (Daniel), the later Herbert (Nick) Scramuzza, Annie Scramuzza Zimmer, and Gloria Scramuzza Lama. Born in New Orleans, Louisiana on September 5, 1930, Joyce was a resident of New Orleans and Slidell, Louisiana. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Joyce had peace in saying her Rosary (Beads). She loved Mary, The Blessed Mother. She believed in praying to St. Anthony, St. Christopher, St. Joseph and St. Jude. Joyce retired from banking after 43 years. Joyce was president of the AIB. She was an Avon representative for 33 years. Joyce was an avid fan of the N.Y. Yankees and the N.O. Pelican Baseball Team. We love you and will miss you Maw-Maw. Rest now in peace dear Momma. Special thanks to the staff of Ochsner Hospital Northshore, the staff of Canon Hospice and the staff of Greenbriar Community Care Facility. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at LAKE LAWN METAIRIE FUNERAL HOME, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans, on Saturday, December 19, 2015 at 12:00 noon. Interment will follow in Metairie Cemetery. A visitation will be held at the funeral home beginning at 10:00AM. Masses are preferred.
