

Karlyn is survived by her beloved husband of over 57 years, John J. Pecoul, Jr.; daughter Meliss Pecoul Carlson (Steve) ; granddaughter Layne Nicole Carlson who was the light of her life; sister-in-law Kathleen Pecoul Camp (Charles); nieces and nephew Lisa Killian Lewman (Dan), Kenneth Scott Killian (Maria), Laura Camp Freeman (Jared), Katy Camp Nevis (Junior), and Kelly Camp Perret (Daniel).She had a special bond with her Great nieces and nephews Parker and Reagan Freeman, and Emma, Luke, and Sophie Perret.
She is preceded in death by her parents; son Keith Wayne Pecoul; brother William E. Kilian and mother and father-in-law John Joseph Pecoul, Sr. and Erma Ladner Pecoul.
Karlyn attended J.C. Ellis Elementary School, Metairie Junior High School and graduated East Jefferson High School in 1962.
Karlyn was an avid foodie and loved to experiment in the kitchen creating countless wonderful meals for her family and loved ones.
She was addicted to the Food Network and an avid reader of recipe books and romance novels.
One of her talents included making beautiful birthday and wedding cakes for the family.
Karlyn was a giver and often volunteered her time to assist with her children’s class activities as Room Mother or Girls Scout Leader. She could often be found making delectable treats to share with her children’s and granddaughter Layne’s classmates for holiday parties.
Karlyn held positions as a bookkeeper at Firemen’s Fund Insurance Company, a teller for the New Orleans Homestead and a secretarial position for Ochsner Transplant Department before she retired to become a grandmother or “Nonnie” extraordinaire to her only grandchild.
Karlyn and her husband John loved to travel and took over 57 cruises in their years together. They loved exploring new places and cultures during their retirement.
She was a member of the Golden Ages Club and enjoyed regular card games and functions with her group of friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Memorial Service in the Chapel of Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, on Monday, October 25, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Interment in Metairie Cemetery.
