Katherine Mary Zibilich

Katherine M. Zibilich, age 66, of Metairie, Louisiana, passed away peacefully and will be laid to rest alongside her parents.

Katherine was a graduate of Mount Carmel Academy in New Orleans and earned her degree in Accounting from the University of New Orleans. She went on to become a Certified Public Accountant and spent many years working in the oil and gas industry.

Katherine possessed an extraordinary mind. She was a true mathematical wizard, with a natural ability for numbers and an intelligence that served her well throughout her professional life. Yet beyond her remarkable intellect was something even more special—a genuinely kind heart.

Kathi also had a wonderful sense of humor, especially when telling stories. She had a way of bringing her stories to life and making the people around her laugh. Her humor and storytelling were a special part of what made her memorable to those who knew her.

A member of St. Angela Merici Parish, Katherine was a woman of faith who enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. She loved gardening and reading. Some of her fondest memories came from childhood summers spent at her father’s oyster camp in Port Sulphur, Louisiana. Those summers were a special part of her childhood and remained cherished memories throughout her life.

Katherine never married and had no children. She had many cousins and friends who were part of her life and who will remember her fondly.

She is survived by her sister, Cecilia Zibilich Smith (Gerard); niece, Stephanie Smith; nephew, Nicholas Smith; and many cousins and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dome Mjehovic Zibilich and Bozo M. Zibilich.

Katherine will be remembered for her brilliant mind, her kind heart, her wonderful sense of humor, her storytelling, her independence, and her love of reading and gardening. She lived her life in her own unique way and will be missed by those who knew and cared for her.

Entombment and Final Arrangements

Katherine will be entombed alongside her parents in the family wall crypt on Thursday, August 13, 2026, at Lake Lawn Metairie, All Saints Mausoleum - 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. There will be no formal viewing or Mass, but family and friends are invited to walk past the crypt, pay respects, or say a prayer any time after 9:30 AM.
