Kathleen "Fifi" Cousin Zambon

Our beloved Fifi was called home to be with Jesus on Saturday, August 8, 2026. Kathleen “Fifi” Cousin Zambon was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, whose beautiful presence touched countless lives. She was married to her beloved husband, Dennis Mario Zambon, for nearly 49 years. In Fifi’s final years, Dennis lovingly cared for her, surrounding her with love and comfort until the very end, and as only Dennis could, with plenty of laughter along the way.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Emory N. “Rip” Cousin, Jr. and Mary Ann Vigo Cousin, and her beloved daughter, Michelle Marie Zambon.

Fifi was the cherished mother of three children: Michelle Marie Zambon, Vincent Michael Zambon, and Dara Zambon Guimaraes (Thiago). She was a devoted “Fifi” to her two grandchildren, Gabriel “Gabe” and Lina “Beana” Guimaraes, who brought immense joy and love to her life. She is also survived by her siblings, Michael John Cousin, Patricia Cousin Gilberti (Philip), Thomas Paul Cousin (Lisa), and David Joseph Cousin; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and countless friends who loved her dearly.

She grew up on Poinsettia Drive in Bucktown where she attended St Louis King of France. She later attended Archbishop Chapelle High School and graduated from Grace King High School. She worked as a dental assistant for many years, a career in which her caring nature and ability to connect with others came in handy.

She was a devout Catholic and was deeply involved in St. Clement of Rome Parish, where she dedicated countless hours to prayer in the Adoration Chapel.

She was especially involved as a vital participant in Compassionate Burials for Indigent Babies (CBIB), a nonprofit organization providing dignified burials for unclaimed, abandoned, and indigent infants and promoting awareness of Safe Haven Laws.

She was also very involved in St. Clement of Rome School, where she was a room mother for many of her children’s classes. Teachers loved having Fifi in their classrooms because of her creativity, talent for crafts, and ability to make every school celebration extra special.

Fifi was a woman of many talents and passions. She had a true green thumb, loved gardening, and took great pride in creating and caring for her beautiful garden. She was crafty, creative, a wonderful cook and baker. She was a talented seamstress and an avid runner and triathlete! She also enjoyed teaching aerobics and was a phenomenal dancer who loved music, especially live music and could often be found cutting a rug on the dance floor! Fifi enjoyed musicals, Broadway shows and live theatre productions, especially New Orleans local, “And the Ball & All”!

She also had a special love for animals and adored the many pets she had throughout her life, especially her beloved dachshunds. Her most recent furry companion, Pookie, held a particularly special place in her heart.

Some of her favorite places where many precious memories were created include Lakeshore Playground, Lakeside Country Club & Green Acres Country Club.

Fifi loved the beach, especially Pensacola beach where she spent many summer vacations with her husband and children.

Fifi left an impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her. She truly never met a stranger! She had a gift for making people feel welcome, loved, and at home.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. New Orleans, LA. Visitation will be held from 12 PM – 2 PM with a memorial Mass to begin at 2 PM. Inurnment will follow at Metairie Cemetery.
