Kay Siegel Kronenberg

Kay Siegel Kronenberg passed away on April 13, 2023, after a long battle with cancer. She was 84 years old. Kay was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, on December 30, 1938, to the late Bertha Levy Siegel. She attended Isidore Newman School and was a graduate of Fortier High School. After graduation, Kay attended Sophie Newcomb College and the University of Alabama. In 1958, she married Alan Kronenberg of Birmingham, Alabama. Kay and Alan resided together in New Orleans for 53 years until Alan’s death in 2012.

Early in their marriage, Kay and Alan operated a snowball stand on the lakefront, and later owned “The Quickie Sandwich Shop” in the New Orleans Central Business District. However, skincare was Kay’s true passion. In 1981 she opened Finishing Touch Salon where she sold custom-blended makeup, skincare products, and accessories. To enhance her career, Kay returned to school in her 50s to become a certified esthetician.

Kay was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister-in-law and friend. She enjoyed spending time with her family, and was devoted to her pets. Prior to starting a family, Kay bred and showed Pekingese dogs. The family would like to thank Kay’s amazing caregivers and hospice staff for their care and support during her illness.

Kay is survived by her children, Mark Kronenberg (Kirsh), Michelle Kronenberg Bronston (Ben) and her grandchildren Lindsey Bronston, Ryan Bronston, Conley Kronenberg, and Brenan Kronenberg. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Lynn Kronenberg Berman (Stan), and her companion of many years, Harrel Zivitz. Kay is pre-deceased by Alan Kronenberg (husband), Bertha Levy Siegel (mother), and Sadie Levy (aunt).

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, April 18, at 10:30 am at Hebrew Rest Mausoleum No. 3, 2100 Pelopidas at Frenchmen Street with Rabbi Daniel Sherman officiating. A reception at Temple Sinai, 6227 St. Charles Avenue will follow.
