Kenneth G. Soyez, aged 74, passed away on October 28, 2026. Born July 10, 1952, he grew up in Chalmette, Louisiana. He later moved to Destrehan, Louisiana, where he was surrounded by his loving family.
Ken earned a Bachelor of Engineering from Louisiana State University and went on to build a distinguished career as a Petroleum Engineer working for Shell, Odeco, Murphy Oil, and Crescent Technical Services.
For 28 years, Ken was married to his devoted wife, Jennifer Soyez, and together they built a family. He is survived by his children, Chris Soyez (Tara) and Jeffrey Soyez; his step-children, Jessica Ortego (Barrett) and Steven Wofford (Andrea); his brother, David Soyez (Michelle); and his grandchildren, Mason Soyez (10), Tyler Beaver (25), Peyton Ortego (17), Reagan Ortego (15), Odin Wofford (6), and Gunnar Wofford (3).
Ken treasured the time he spent with family and friends, especially gathering around long dinners, crawfish boils, and sporting events. He found peace and happiness in the simple pleasures of life, whether tending to his garden, relaxing on the beach, or enjoying the outdoors with his beloved cat and dogs. An avid fisherman, Ken loved spending time on the water and in nature. As a longtime LSU season ticket holder, there was perhaps no place he loved more than Saturday night in Tiger Stadium, cheering on the Tigers. His passion for travel took him across the United States and around the world, creating memories and experiences that he cherished throughout his life.
Visitation will be held at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, LA 70124, on November 4, 2026, from 9:30 am to 11:00 am. A Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 am. Kenneth will be laid to eternal rest at St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery, 13396 River Rd, Destrehan, LA 70047.
