Kristin Eppling Spruell, age 63, passed away peacefully at her beloved brother’s Mandeville home on Friday, July 8, 2022. Born in Alexandria, Louisiana on June 23, 1959, Kristin grew up in New Orleans, Louisiana as the youngest of three children. After graduating from O. Perry Walker High School, she attended the University of Southwestern Louisiana (now ULL) where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Marketing. Kristin was a highly respected and successful mortgage banker in the New Orleans area for many years.
To say that Kristin was energetic and vivacious is an understatement. She was loyal, supportive, and went out of her way to make people comfortable and happy. She was fun to be around but also hard-working and tenacious. Kristin found her greatest happiness in being a mother to her sports-loving sons. For many years the entire family traveled across the country for tournaments that doubled as social events and vacations. Unfortunately, five years ago her world was rocked by the deaths of her son and husband within five months of each other. She tried to overcome debilitating grief; but it, along with other medical issues, extinguished the light that was our Kristin.
Kristin was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, Philip W. Spruell; son Patrick W. Spruell; parents Eldred J. Eppling and Helen Pereira Eppling; and sister Kathryn M. Eppling. She is survived by her son, Tommy Spruell; brother, Tommy Eppling (Catherine); nieces, Lauren Eppling Nelson (Eric), Amelie Eppling Conger (Andrew), Betsy Eppling, Caroline Dufrene, and Natalie Dufrene; nephew, Joe Dufrene; mother-in-law, Linda Sheffield; sisters-in-law, Karen Spruell and Catherine Eppling; and brother-in-law, David Spruell. The family would like to give special thanks to Anvoi Hospice and dear friend, Marilyn Breaux.
Family and friends are invited to attend services on Wednesday, July 13, 2022 at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, Louisiana 70124. Visitation will begin at 12:00 PM followed by a 2:00 Mass. Memories and condolences can be posted online at www.lakelawnmetairie.com. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105
