

On Sunday, September 13, 2015, Lamar Joseph Iglus, Jr., made a swift peaceful transition to his heavenly home. He was born in New Orleans, LA on November 2, 1960 to the late Lamar Iglus and the late Maggie Bell Roman. After the passing of his mother, Lamar and his siblings were raised by his loving and caring grandmother Annie Mae Roman who still resides in New Orleans, LA. After Hurricane Katrina, Lamar moved his family to Houston, TX and became a member of First Metropolitan Church pastored by Rev. Dr. John Ogletree, Jr.
Lamar leaves to cherish precious memories, his wife of 35 years, Patricia Rose Iglus and his children Lamar Iglus III, Ernest Lamar Iglus and Kenitria Adebayormi. Siblings: Brian Iglus and Lisa Iglus of New Orleans, LA, Leroy Perkins of Dothan, AL and preceded in death by Aaron Iglus. Grandchildren: Dominique Washington, Kyle & Kameron Smoot, Amberlynn, Rakeen, Derrick & Jatory Compton. Sister-in-laws: Alice Baker of Cypress, TX, Jennifer Covington of Rialto, CA, Athalia Rose of New Orleans, LA, Latrisa Iglus of New Orleans, LA and Elaine Perkins of Dothan, AL. Brother-in-laws: James Baker of Cypress, TX, Alvin Covington of Rialto, CA and the late Ernest Rose, Jr. Also survived by one godchild and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Lamar graduated from Joseph S. Clark High School in 1978 and attended Grambling University.
Lamar was employed by Southern States Offshore, Inc. as a dedicated employee for 15 years. He was a retiree from LSU Medical Center.
Family, friends and employees of Southern States Offshore, Inc., LSU Medical Center, Kroger’s at Louetta and Grant of Cypress, TX, Cypress Creek High School of Cypress, TX, Sewerage and Water Board, Mulate’s, members of First Metropolitan Church of Houston, TX and Old Zion Baptist Church are invited to attend the Homegoing Celebration on Saturday, September 19, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, LA 70124. Visitation begins at 9:00 a.m.
