Larry Earl Tucker passed away peacefully on January 11, 2024, in New Orleans, LA at the age of 91. Larry was born in Monroe, LA on May 2, 1932. He was a graduate of Neville High School and Northeast Louisiana University, now ULM, where he received a B.S. degree in Geology. He served his country as a commissioned 2" Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Military Police Corp. After leaving the service, he worked for Core Laboratories, Inc for 32 years and was their Southeast District Manager. After retirement, he co-founded Core Petrophysics, Inc and spent another 10 years working in the oilfield service industry. Larry was a long-time member of the Methodist Church, New Orleans Geology Society, SIPES, AAPG, and SPE.
Golf was a lifelong hobby, and he was an avid LSU and Saints football fan.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 58 and ½ years, Marjorie Henderson Tucker, his son, Jay Tucker and his wife Laura. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Neva Tucker of Monroe, LA, his two sisters, Melvyn Cannon and Beatrice Tyler, and his two brothers, Sam and Gilford Tucker. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Cathryn Looney (Charles), Nan Hudson (Mike), Ann Stewart (Don), Van Tyler (Elizabeth), Roy Tucker (Gail), and Kay Pingersterhaus (Paul) along with their spouses and all his great nieces and nephews of whom he was so fond.
Larry will be remembered for his amazing smile and kindness mixed with a healthy sense of humor. He was a classic gentleman and a favorite of family, friends and neighbors alike. He was a wonderful husband and father and will be missed dearly.
Memorial Services will be held at Aurora United Methodist Church, 3300 Eton St, New Orleans,
LA at 1 pm on Saturday, January 20th and followed by a celebration of his life from 2-5 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Aurora United Methodist Church or a charity of the giver's choice.
