Laurie Martinez Neely

She leaves behind her son, Alfred Henry Potier, her sister, Claudia Marshel (Julia), her sister-in-law, Jodi Martinez, her brothers, Ron Martinez (Cathy) and Andrew Martinez, and many nieces and nephews who loved “Lalee”. Laurie was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Neely, her grandson, Max Potier, her father, Ronald Martinez, her mother, Phyllis Toledano Martinez Anson, and her brother, Mark Martinez.

Born on May 23, 1956, Laurie attended St. Raphael School and was a proud 1974 graduate of Holy Angels Academy. She held various administrative positions during her career, and retired as the Secretary of the CYO/Youth and Young Adult Ministry Office from the Archdiocese of New Orleans.

Laurie was an avid cook, and loved hosting feasts for family and friends for any holiday or Friday afternoon. She loved gardening, sewing, and traveling. Laurie, along with her friends. Liz, Linda, and Liz (“The L’s”) enjoyed many trips and fun times together.

Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation and funeral service on Tuesday, December 30, at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, located at 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, LA 70124. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by a Memorial Mass at 12:00 PM.
