Lawrence “Jim” Adams, age 91, passed away on Thursday, February 25, 2021. Jim was the son of the late Margaret Armshaw Adams and stepson of the late Ludolph Maurin; grandson of the late Lily Bruhl Armshaw, and husband of the late Lois Doize Adams.
Jim graduated from St. Stephen’s Grammar in 1943 and Fortier High School in 1947. Upon graduating, he joined the merchant marine and sailed the world from 1947-1950. He was drafted into the army in 1951 during the Korean conflict. After basic training, he volunteered for the airborne infantry and became a paratrooper with the 82nd airborne division, 508th ARCT and served honorably until 1953.
After failed marriages, Jim and Lois found each other in 1962 and eventually married on March 30, 1963. They along with their special daughter, Debbie, enjoyed a wonderful life together with good food, good wine, good loving and happy trails that made the journey most enjoyable, especially gem mining in NC.
Jim retired from the brick business in 2004. He and Lois continued to enjoy these perks even more until Lois’ passing in 2013, ending a beautiful union of 49 years and 10 months.
Jim is survived by his daughter, Debbie; his most wonderful caretakers and Debbie’s guardians, Mark and Cindy and by Barbara who was always there to offer advice and a shoulder to cry on. Jim is also survived by many nieces and nephews, all who make up a wonderful family.
So folks, Jim ain’t dere no more! Jim has joined his beautiful bride, the Wilkinson’s, Martin’s and G’sells and perhaps they are toasting you with a glass of Pisano.
