He was my brother's good friend in HS. I remember they called him "Hawkeye". I'm saddened to find that he died. 

Every once in a while I'll Google names of people that I remember from my past...I just happened to remember Larry and was saddened to learn of his passing.  I knew Larry in junior high school and we became school buddies.  He was pretty damn smart with a quick wit even then...in choir class we both had deep voices and used to lampoon the silly songs we were required to sing and laugh about it after class.  In high school we ran in  different crowds...although for some strange reason we ended up wrestling each other for the high school gymnastics championship.  He pinned me in 3 seconds.  I know Larry was involved in a tragic accident not long after graduation and it seems he made the most out of his situation,  God bless .
 

I had the pleasure of getting to know Larry over the last three years as I started my career.  He had a beautiful soul with a quick wit and a heart of gold!  I will miss Larry coaching me to fantasy football victory and discussing differing political views.  Mostly, I will miss the twinkle in his eyes and the smirk in his smile that always let you know he cared.  He will forever be missed!

 

I was just thinking of Larry today, and I'm so sorry that I learned my friend has passed on to heaven. My heart felt condolences to his family, friends and associates.

I went to college with Larry, we both lived near campus-which back in the early 80's was not as hip as it is today. We found out that we were both interested in the RT program while in first year at Wayne State. We had some great times down there, we went to many games at Tiger Stadium together. He introduced me to Uncle Ralph who ushered lower box home plate.  The memories are many, especially from that magical 1984 season.

I now feel fortunate to have visited Larry in NOLA back in 2004, and talked to him on a few occasions. As a favor and without a second thought, he went down and photographed the brick I purchased at the DDay National Museum, to honor my father in law.  I know it had to take some time on his part, to locate that one brick out of thousands. That photograph made an old paratrooper so happy and meant so much to him.

I am so sorry for your loss.  I worked with Larry for 17 years and I will remember that smirk and his laugh and his dry sense of humor.  He was great at his job and was very compassionate.  I know Larry is watching over you and your family and you are in my thoughts and prayers.

I was so saddened to learn of Larry's death.  I was his Program Director when he pursued his B.S. in Radiation Therapy at WSU.  I remember Larry as a smart, serious student.  His dry sense of humor sometimes caught me by surprise since he was relatively quiet around me. I was pleased that he chose to pursue a graduate degree in Medical Physics and that he had a long career in that field.  I am confident that he was appreciated by patients and colleagues alike.  I'd like to extend my condolences to his family, friends and colleagues.  May you be blessed with peace and love from those around you. 

My deepest heartfelt condolences to your family in the passing of my friend Larry. Larry and I were in the program together at WSU for both Undergraduate (Radiation Therapy) and Graduate (Medical Physics) training. He was a dear friend as we endured and commiserated the rigors of college life together. He will be missed and I pray that you feels God's peace at this time.

I was deeply saddened to learn of Larry’s passing. We were neighbors and friends, and it is his sharp witted company I will miss most. He cared so much about people, their physical well-being, and their happiness too. He was a smart, kind and engaged old soul to be sure. His friendship was a gift to me. Thank you Larry. I will miss seeing  you at the Nail my friend. 

Larry was a special human being.  To me it seemed he was able to rise above the pain and suffering he experienced as a child and as a young man.  An “old soul” as they say.  A real blessing to our family and no doubt to the people in New Orleans that he helped and really loved.  We will never forget him.  

Larry was a wonderful man; he was the oldest of the Metevier cousins from my generation, and we all looked up to him.  When we were teens, I always admired Larry for his brains and athleticism.  He had a very dry sense of humor and liked to joke around but he had a very serious side, too.  I still can't believe he's gone...he will be missed very much by our whole family.  

I had the privilege of working with Larry for over a decade.  Not only did I consider him a competent professional but also a good friend.  Larry was a very multifaceted person.  He would be the first to tell you his argumentative side went as far back as high school, and working together every day with opposing political views led to some exciting debate.  He also had a really good sense of humor.  Larry's finest quality, though,  was the empathy he had for those who were down or ill.  He was wonderful with patients, kind and compassionate which may be why he dedicated his entire career caring for those with cancer.  I will truly miss him.     Jill Buhler

Larry was the oldest cousin and I fondly remember him playing with me  and paying attention to me when I was younger. 
He also arranged a meeting for me with a nurse friend that he worked with and that experience proved fruitful for me as I did eventually become a nurse and appreciated his assistance . 
Mostly I loved Larry's kind of smirk smile when he laughed.
I will miss the future great memories we would have had.
Our family has suffered a great loss, and he will be extremely missed.
