

Lawrence was the beloved firstborn son of the late Lawrence L. Winnier and Victoria Winnier. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 63 years, Earle Foster Winnier; his cherished children, Glenn Winnier and Donna Miller; his grandson, Glenn Winnier Jr.; and his siblings, Joseph Merlin Winnier and Phyllis Mary Winnier.
He is lovingly survived by his sister, Ramona Dupré; his grandson, Darrin Winnier (Soyini Winnier); his granddaughters, Melissa Slatken (Eric Slatken), Robyn Walley (Matt Clark), and Stephanie Carter (Wesley Carter); his treasured great-grandchildren, Ava and Leah Winnier, Elizabeth and Miller Slatken, and Jordan Walley; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory.
Lawrence proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II and was later recalled to active duty during the Korean War. His service reflected the patriotism, courage, and dedication that defined his life.
Following his military service, Lawrence enjoyed a distinguished 33-year career with the United States Post Office before retiring. He was also a founding member of the Les Bon Homme Duez Social Club and an active member of the National Alliance of Postal and Federal Employees Union. Combining his dedication to the union with his passion for photography, he faithfully edited and printed the union's monthly newsletter, POSTSCRIPT, for 19 years.
Lawrence will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, veteran, and friend. His quiet strength, generous spirit, unwavering work ethic, and deep love for his family left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. His extraordinary life of service, commitment, and love will continue to inspire those who were blessed to know him.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all who offered Lawrence their love, friendship, and care throughout his long and remarkable life.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans, Louisiana. The visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m., with the Funeral Mass following at 10:00 a.m. The interment will follow at All Saints Mausoleum.
