Lillie Mae Archer Boos

March 18, 1927 – December 14, 2020
Obituary of Lillie Mae Archer Boos
IN THE CARE OF

Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home & Cemeteries

Lillie Mae Archer Boos passed away peacefully at home on December 14, 2020, from complications of a stroke. She was born in New Orleans on March 18, 1927, to Thomas Charles and Mary Schneider Archer. She resided in Metairie for the last sixty years of her life. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 71 years, Michael W. P. Boos; by her parents; by her brother, Thomas Charles Archer, Jr.; and by her sisters Shirley Belcher and Sister Caritas “Margaret.” She is survived by her sisters Dorothy Archer and Anna Bonnette.

She is also survived by her eight children: Dr. Michael W. P. Boos, Jr. (Pamela); Dr. Thomas A. Boos (Dr. Nancy Wagner); Richard D. Boos (Pamela); Patricia Boos Green (Stanley); Stephen G. Boos; Rebecca Boos Donnelly (Dr. William); Lisa Boos Montaldo (Edmond III); and Eric Boos (Charleen).

The beloved matriarch leaves behind to honor her memory 17 grandchildren: Dr. Jeffrey Boos (Livi); Dr. Stephanie Boos Regan (Jonathan); Heather Boos Crandall (Evan); Lisa M. Boos; Jason Boos (Melissa); Rachel Boos; Jeremy Boos; Elizabeth Green; Annie Green Dietzway (Scott); Jennifer Green Browne (Peter); Nicole Dufour Suhre (Eric); Danielle Dufour; Edmond “Monte” Montaldo, IV; Elizabeth Montaldo Scott (Jordan); Catherine Montaldo; Eric Boos, Jr.; and Emily Boos.

Lillie is also survived by 21 great-grandchildren: Caroline, Grant, and Natalie Regan; Nathan Boos; Gabrielle Thibodeaux; Emily and Kiersten Fenning; Mason and Madison Boos; Icel Winterstein; Ethan, Collin, Reid, and Amelia Dietzway; Sullivan, Waylon, and Calvin Browne; Alexander and Lilliana Suhre; and Archer and Mackenzie Scott.

She is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.

Lillie lived and loved beautifully. She was the rock on which her family was centered, a bright light in a dark room, a shoulder to cry on, an attentive ear to share the woes and joys of the people she loved and who loved her.

Seeing the world was one of the great joys of Lillie’s life; she and husband Mike were dedicated travelers, crisscrossing the globe as they visited seventy-two countries and all seven continents.

Lillie was fiercely devoted to her family and tireless in attending the events of their lives: baptisms, kindergarten plays, dance recitals, graduations (grammar school, high school, college, medical school), and weddings. When one of her children or grandchildren was being recognized, she was there, from New Orleans to Lafayette to Orlando to Anchorage, Alaska. No distance was so great as to keep Lillie from demonstrating her love for her family.

Lillie was a devout parishioner of St. Louis King of France church for sixty years.

The family offers special thanks to Rosa Butler and Tracy Kimble, whose devoted and affectionate care helped make Lillie’s final years as comfortable as could be managed.

In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Louis King of France church would be appreciated (on-line donations may be made through Parishsoft at https://giving.parishsoft.com/App/Giving/stl1609260).

Funeral services will be private. Due to current social distancing restrictions, all those who will be attending are kindly required to wear face masks. There will, however, be a live stream on Facebook Live beginning at one o'clock in the afternoon on Saturday, December 19, 2020, which may be accessed by visiting Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home’s Facebook Page at https://www.facebook.com/Lake-Lawn-Metairie-Funeral-Home-2274799866091977/.
