Lily Morales

Lily Morales, age 97, passed away peacefully on 1/22/2026, surrounded by the love of her family. A woman of remarkable strength, grace, and devotion, she lived a long life rooted in faith, family, and quiet resilience.

Lily was born on December 29th, 1928, in Guatemala City, Guatemala, and moved to New Orleans, Louisiana in 1968.

Lily dedicated her life to her family. She was a loving wife to her husband, Julian Alfonso Morales, whom she cherished until his passing. She became a widow 2 months before their 50th wedding anniversary. Alfonso and Lily were proud parents of 6 children. Maria Elisa Morales, Sara Francisca Morales, Gloria Contreras Poche (David), Gilda Rebecca Morales, Flor de Maria Torres (Carlos),and Alfonso Morales (Maria).

Even though widowed too soon, she carried forward with courage and steadfast love, becoming the steady heart of her family. She found her greatest joy in being “Mama” and later, Mama Lily. Her home was a place of warmth, wisdom, and unconditional love. She leaves behind a legacy carried on by her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and all those who were blessed to know her.

Life asked much of her, including the profound sorrow of burying two beloved daughters. Through unimaginable loss, she remained a pillar of strength, teaching her family—by example—what perseverance, faith, and love truly look like.

Lily will be remembered for her gentle spirit, strong values, and the way she loved deeply and selflessly. Her stories, traditions, and quiet guidance will live on through generations.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Julian, and her daughters, Maria Elisa Morales and Sara Francisca Morales. She is survived by her children, Gloria Contreras Poche, Gilda Rebecca Morales, Flor de Maria Torres, Alfonso Morales along with grandchildren Vanessa Stubbs (Kevin), Hector Contreras (Sandy), Carlos Torres Jr, Jessica Torres, and Christy Webb (Zach); great-grandchildren Allessandra Stubbs, Julian Stubbs, James Stubbs, Jack Stubbs, Sebastian Contreras, and Ayden Hernandez, Stella Webb and Camilla Webb. All her extended family who will forever hold her memory close.
