Loreine S. (Mickey) Cheron passed away at the age of 88 on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at Carpenter House, St. Joseph Hospice. She was born on March 6, 1927 in New Orleans to the late Alta L. Cheron and Esther W. VonSalzen. Mickey was a resident of Marrero for the past 31 years. She retired from Charity Hospital in 1990 as Director of Radiology. Mickey loved all forms of sports. She played for the New Orleans Jax, a girls’ softball league as well as basketball for nine months in Central America for a Goodwill Tour.
She is survived by her daughter Ethyl Warner, dear friends David and Linda Pruitt and her beloved dog Gabby and cat Mazzie as well as many other friends.
A Memorial Service will be held in the Chapel of Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at 2:00pm. Visitation will begin at 1:00pm until service time. Interment will follow in Metairie Cemetery.
