Lorraine A. Santopadre

Lorraine Aucoin Santopadre passed away Monday, November 9, 2015 at the age of 88. She was the beloved wife of the late John V. Santopadre with 61 years of marriage. Lorraine was born in Napoleonville, Louisiana on August 4, 1927, and married John, June 20,1946. She was the cherished mother of Johnie Ann Salvaggio (Rodney) the late John Santopadre, Jr., Gina Szush and Joni de Gravelle along with previous daughter-in-law, Debbie Santopadre and son-in-Iaws, Michael Szush and Oliver de Gravelle. Lorraine loved to play softball in her younger years and was the catcher for the semi-professional Jax Banti women's softball team. She was a great cook and enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Her home was the nucleus of many Sunday dinners and holidays, serving over 35 people. She also supported many charities. Lorraine was a very kind, compassionate and generous person who looked for only the good in people. Lorraine was proceeded in death by her parents, Rose and Edward Aucoin, step-father, Arthur Miller, siblings, Margaret Jusselin, June Gouslin, and Edward Aucoin. She is also survived by her nine grandchildren who she loved dearly-Ashley Salvaggio Bono, Amanda Salvaggio Fenlon, Jeffrey Szush, Mark Szush, Gia Santopadre, Alicia Santopadre Snyder, Elizabeth de Gravelle, Alexandra de Gravelle, John de Gravelle and six great-grandchildren-John Santopadre III, Ellie Bono, Paige Bono, Guilliana Santopadre, Tobi Snyder and Patrick Fenlon. The family wishes to express their deepest appreciation to the loving care-givers Janet Picado and Carmen Sardina. She will be forever missed by her family and friends. The family welcomes contributions to the charity of your choice. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at LAKE LAWN METAIRIE FUNERAL HOME, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans, on Saturday, November 14, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow in. A visitation will be held at the funeral home beginning at 12:00 p.m.
