She was preceded in death by her parents, Vito John Lopreore and Mary Marozzi Lopreore, both of Italy; siblings Matt, Sarah, Rosemary, Jonnie, Angelina, and Frank; her in-laws, Lawrence and Althea LaHoste; and her beloved husband of 50 years, Larry LaHoste, Jr.
Survivors include her four sons, Larry (Sharon), Gerald, Jean (Diane), and Jeffrey (Moisés); two grandchildren, Laura (David) and Adam; two great-grandchildren, Emily Grace and Charlotte Louise; brother- and sisters-in-law, and many nieces and nephews.
A lifelong resident of New Orleans, Louise will be mourned by her friends at the Jefferson Orleans and fellow parishioners of St. Angela Merici Parish, where she was a volunteer. She will also be remembered as the long-time office manager of Drs. Parent and Steeg dental practice.
A Catholic woman who lived her faith, Louise was universally known for her charity, kindness, strength, humor, and hospitality. All were welcome at her table. A widely repeated piece of family lore confirms that she refused to be silenced by a tour guide when she raised a chorus of “Let There Be Peace on Earth” in the catacombs of Rome. Her spirit and her memory will be a gift and a blessing to all who knew her.
Services will be held at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd in New Orleans, on Thursday, February 3, 2022. The visitation will begin at 10 AM, followed by the Mass at 12 PM. Burial will be private. Vaccination and masks are required by the family.
